Sunshine House Vacation Rental is located just a few minutes north of Long Beach. Besides the beautiful beach that is within walking distance of the home, there is plenty to see.
Nearby you will find the adventure of the Lewis & Clark Discovery Trail that you can use to bike, jog, and walk or roller blade if you are daring! In downtown Long Beach, WA you will find many things to do. Here you can go to a movie, at a theatre that is right out of the 1950’s, take a drive on the beach, or better yet, ride horses on the beach. For the kids, both young and old, the go carts are always exciting. There is plenty of shopping for everyone in the family, and don’t forget to stop in at Marsh’s Free Museum and visit Jake the Alligator Man and join his fan club. Wander the docks at the Port of Ilwaco and see old rowboats, cabin cruisers and commercial fishing vessels, as well as many wonderful shops and art galleries from local Peninsula artists. There are also great galleries in Seaview, Long Beach, Ocean Park & Nahcotta, all featuring nationally known Peninsula artists.
Visit Waikiki Beach and watch the waves crash against the rocks below the lighthouse. See the holes worn in the cliffs by centuries of pounding surf. Park at the North Head Lighthouse parking lot and hike the trail to the Lighthouse, or park at the Interpretive Center and after seeing what they have to offer, take a hike to Cape Disappointment Lighthouse.
Settle in for some wonderful people watching. Leading sites: the beach, the benches on the boardwalk, the Long Beach Gazebo (which also features live music many summer weekends), and down on the waterfront in Nahcotta, Ilwaco and Chinook. Head a little further North and you will be in Ocean Park. Make your first stop Jack’s Country Store. You will feel like you have stepped back in time. Be sure to allow plenty of time for this visit. They carry just about anything you could want or need, over 220,000 items in stock. While in Ocean Park be sure to stop at Sweet Williams Gifts and Adelaide’s Book Store. Down the street is the Full Circle Cafe where you can get a great breakfast or lunch, or just stop by for some homemade dessert. You are also not too far away from the town of Oysterville, and Ledbetter State Park. So much to do, so little time! Kite flying is at its best here at the beach. Bring your kite or buy one locally and join in the fun! Looking for a great place to eat? We can recommend a few: Laurie’s is open only for breakfast, but well worth the wait! Chen’s for Chinese, The Corral Drive Inn and the Cottage Bakery. All of those are good for the whole family. For the adults try: 42nd Street Cafe, The Depot, The Shelburne Inn & Restaurant, Jimella’s & Pelicano’s.
Have you been tempted yet? Whatever you enjoy doing on your vacation from reading that book out on the deck to flying kites on the beach, #1 Calder Beach is the perfect location. You are in for a delightful treat.
